Although everyone's experience is unique and I cannot guarantee any outcomes, here is what some clients had to say months after their last therapy session:

A client who recently finished therapy said, "I've been diagnosed with PTSD since 1995 after a near fatal drowning. I have been in and out of therapy and have used a variety of medications to manage my symptoms specifically anxiety and depression. All of my therapy had been cognitive behavioral talk therapy.  I would feel better for awhile but would trigger easily.  Recently, events in my life had triggered me so severely that I needed to go back into treatment. This time I was referred to Dr. Flavin to experience EMDR. I had heard about this form of therapy and was curious about it. I had known others who were greatly helped by this approach.  I was also aware of the research that validates this form of therapy as particularly effective with trauma survivors.

Working with Dr. Flavin was by far my most successful therapeutic experience. The reason for this is twofold. First, I cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Flavin as a clinician. She is not only an expert at her craft, she exudes warmth, empathy and caring. Secondly,  EMDR with Dr. Flavin was far more efficient at remediating the traumatic event than all of my other years of talk therapy combined. This time the work was focused on mitigating the emotional power of the traumatic event. So instead of being trained to work through my triggering events I now don’t even trigger to begin with.

I am finally free of those thoughts and feelings that prohibited me from living my best life. I thank Dr. Flavin for her help in my finally finding some peace of mind, literally!"

"Honestly, I didn't think speaking with someone would help and especially not in such a short period of time.  The quality of my life is so much better because I'm not stuck in that emotion anymore.  I'm very thankful for you!  This is so amazing!"

"It has been a pleasure working with you.  You really helped me break through my own barriers and to change my thought process.  Thank you!  My stress level is almost non-existent, I feel purposeful in my work, recognize my role, and no longer feel alone in my world.  And when those feelings arrive, I now know how to redirect.  It feels great!"

"Words cannot express how grateful I am to you for the peace you've helped me find!"

"I had been at my wit's end.  After addressing the childhood trauma, I can do things again!  I'm out in the world again!  In the past, I used to have my groceries delivered, so going grocery shopping myself now is huge!  I haven't been checking my thoughts like I used to.  It just feels like a normal day.  I can't believe where I used to be emotionally.  I feel so much better about myself!"
